Junior Philanthropists In Action (JPA)

Serve. Connect. Empower. Inspire.

Junior Philanthropists in Action (JPA) transforms community service into an opportunity for restorative learning, meaningful connection, and personal growth. Designed for youth and young adults from grade school through post-secondary education, JPA provides purposeful service experiences that help participants recognize the value they can bring to their communities while developing greater empathy, compassion, understanding, and social responsibility.

Through hands-on service and engagement with people and communities beyond their everyday experiences, participants are encouraged to look beyond assumptions and approach others with curiosity rather than judgment. The JPA program helps young people understand that circumstances of need are not confined to any one race, culture, neighborhood, or life experience, thus strengthening cultural awareness while reinforcing our shared humanity.

JPA is designed to offer more than an opportunity to complete required community service hours. Participants have opportunities to:

Serve with purpose by contributing to projects that respond to meaningful community needs.

Build empathy and understanding by learning about the people, circumstances, and communities connected to their service.

Challenge assumptions and judgment through experiences that encourage curiosity, reflection, and broader perspectives.

Strengthen community connection by engaging with their own communities and communities beyond those they encounter every day.

Develop cultural awareness by recognizing the diversity of people and circumstances represented within communities experiencing need.

Build healthy relationships and fellowship through shared experiences that create opportunities for young people to connect beyond screens and everyday social environments.

Recognize their own capacity to contribute by experiencing firsthand that their time, ideas, talents, presence, and care can make a meaningful difference.

Whether participants come to JPA seeking service opportunities, fulfilling community service requirements, or simply looking for a meaningful way to contribute, the goal is the same: to help young people experience service not simply as something they do for others, but as an opportunity to learn with others, connect across differences, and better understand their role in community.

Because community service can do more than meet a requirement. It can change how young people see others, their communities, and themselves.
